What if you want to join Puppets Elora?
We are excited about our big project at the Wellington County Museum in January – March 2019. For this we are looking for people wanting to puppeteer (Drama experience is an asset) and or learn to teach children our existing workshops. We will ask you what you would like to learn and what you would like to do. We have lots of experience in training. You can try out and leave; we have made many friends that way. Better yet, add your talents and join us in building community through puppetry.
Troupe members participate in some or all of the following activities:
Puppeteering, making puppets, operating sound and/or lights, helping develop a new show (See: Creating New Shows), organizing bookings and publicity, book keeping (very little), picture taking, preparing exhibits, teaching workshops (See: Workshops), taking part in the parades, attending skill-upgrading workshops, visiting shows performed by other groups….
Time commitment: Wednesday afternoon rehearsal 1:30 -3:30 at the Elora Centre for the Arts.
You will need time to learn the skills. We will give you lots of time. We have some line learning, and definitely learning the plot and learning to get into a fun alternative personality.
Puppet shows are definitely performed during March break, on some PD days and at the July 1st parade.
We typically take the summer off. We created the new shows to need fewer actors so we can cover for people traveling.
Please note: You will need to pass a police check
What does it cost to join Puppets Elora?
No cost, our membership fee to the Elora Arts Council is covered by performance revenues.
